With this Virus situation I find myself a little bored at times…It was today that I felt like doing something that I NEVER have done before!!!
I baked Christmas Cookies…!!! These little morsels I bake every December to the delight of my family and friends. Today however is a Summer day and very warm with humidity!
It is a simple butter dough which makes the best crunchy morsels!!! Everyone loves them in my family ….and friends do too.
Well they looked beautiful when I took them out of the oven…and left them to cool on the cookie baking sheet….for about an hour. I returned to store them in a box and keep them in the refrigerator. When I picked up the first cookie…it fell apart in my hand…at first I thought it was very crisp…but soon I felt the pastry being wet. To my dismay they were all damp from the humidity in the kitchen/the whole house. We do have air-conditioning…but it is not enough to get all the moisture in the air out of the house.
All my Cookies crumbled and the only way to eat them was with spoon~!

Maria, I’ll bet that using a spoon didn’t slow Dale down in the least! It’s all in how they taste!!! I enjoyed this story. Sue
Hi Sue…..it is so nice to see you here on my blog…..Yes Dale always finds a way to eat what ever it might be and no matter how “difficult” it might be….But, you would be surprised….he lost a lot of weight…with what he eats and how much he eats….and exercises…being in competition with Rick and Charlie riding his bike…..a few times a week…he usually goes 20 miles on a trail….I am not sure if he will ever outdo Charlie…and I am not sure beating Rick…since Rick has been doing this for years…!!! Hope you and your family are doing okay???? Hugs and love to you…!!!
Maria, was this your punishment for baking Christmas cookies at the wrong time of the year? I can imagine your dismay when the cookies got soggy!
I usually bake cookies only for Christmas, but, like you, baked some new ones to alleviate Corona stress. Unfortunately, they turned out way too sweet, and didn’t help at all!
Hi Karin….so very, very nice to hear from you….thank you for your nice comment….I so glad to hear that you are okay as we are as well…
The only sad part is that we have not seen our family in Portland since last Christmas….We do see them on ZOOM and have fun with that….but, it is definitely not the same as being together…for a week or so…all our plans to be with them like…Vinalhaven for a week this Summer fell through…and a trip to celebrate our granddaughter’s 13 birthday…a couple of weeks ago…we have also missed being with them at Easter…and have missed the visit with a cousin and his family from Austria in the Spring….also in Maine…we were going to gather in Portland…because they have not met our son and family before…all that planning got cancelled…so very sad!!! Hope all is well with you and your family….sending you my love….
I’m sure they were just as delicious even wet. Guess you’ll have to wait until humidity has vanished💜
Sharon Solomon….so nice of you to stop by…..!!! I wish the Fitness Center would be open I could bring you a tasting….sigh!! We need to wait until this virus is gone….hopefully soon!!! Hope you and your family are all okay???? Dale and I are good so far…Dale rides his bicycle on the CNR trail…a few times a week…and I walk…. 3 miles 3 times each a week.)9 miles a week)…The humidity is doing me in….!!! I am so looking forward to Fall!!!! Do stay in touch!!! hugs to you!!!
Oh no!!! After all that work…Im sure they still tasted good!
Donna…I have put them into the Refrigerator…and when they are cold …they are perfect….therefore we eat them cold and not at room temperature…
